Mission Bush Pilot and Nurse

After spending three years in Guyana, South America, we have now moved to Bewani, 50 Km south of Vanimo, Papua New Guinea. We have started a new humanitarian aviation ministry here. In visiting with health officials and church people here, the need for an aviation program to reach into remote villages became very apparent. We are taking health workers and medicines/vaccines, into remote village airstrips and bringing out critically ill patients to the hospital. We also fly in educational materials for schools, as well as take in Bible workers. Toni is helping with the medical end of things, while Gary takes care of the flying part. We have several local lay missionaries we sponsor and we do ground transport for patients as well. We are volunteers here to serve our God and the unreached people of Papua New Guinea. We have a great need for more people to join in this effort.

Happy New Year!

Christmas gifts!
Our neighbors enjoying Christmas!
Dear friend,

We want to wish you a Happy New Year— a new year filled with Blessings from above. God wants to prepare a people He can take to Heaven soon.  We are praying that we will all allow Him to do that in our lives this year!

In the last six months of 2018, we witnessed more baptisms in our district than anyone can remember happening in a year before!  We praise the Lord for the 77 who took their stand for Jesus.

We shared some veggies, toiletries, SS lesson papers and treats with our neighbors and pastors for Christmas.  Christmas here in the bush is not celebrated like it is in many countries.  We saw one fake tree at a market in town and a few strings of tinsel strung in offices—otherwise you wouldn't know it was Christmas here.  Some shoot off firecrackers or cheap fireworks.  New Year's is more of the same— with more drunks drinking "home brew"—the cheaper alternative to canned beer.

On New Year's Day, we took a lady to the hospital in Vanimo with possible kidney or gall bladder stones.  We had quite a few medical transports during the last couple of months.

It is summertime here, and it is very hot and humid, with very little rain.

Our plane has just arrived in the US and will now begin the long and expensive journey of being reassembled, installing the new engine, and removing the corrosion.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support.

Blessings to you in 2019!

Gary and Toni Lewis
